I've loved to read as far back as my memory goes.  I think I read every book in my little town's library, and Mom took us to the used book store frequently.  As a kid, I most often got in trouble for getting caught reading under the covers with a flashlight when I was supposed to be asleep!

I'm still addicted to reading, and it's one habit I don't intend to kick.  Reading helps me relax, focus, and let go of the stress of the day.  It takes me to new places, lets me see new perspectives and teaches me new words...

For most of my life, I read Horror, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Mystery, and Humor.  I never read a Romance novel until April 2006 when I bought a copy of Lora Leigh's story Sarah's Seduction.  I blushed the whole way through it and went back for the rest of the Men of August series immediately!  I still read the non-romance genres, but romance has pretty well outweighed my other reading material for the last year.

Above all else, I want characters I can believe, and a plot that holds my attention while also maintaining its continuity, no matter the genre.  Reading is an emotional event for me, and I want to feel everything the characters feel throughout the story.  If you can give me that, you've earned your spot on my bookshelf, as far as I'm concerned.

That's why I don't like knowing spoilers ahead of time.  I think knowing the plot twists, or even some of the minor surprises in the book robs me of the chance to share the characters' feelings as these things are uncovered during the progression of the story.

My Favorite Books (some of them anyway...)
